I’ve been thinking about bag pipes and how fun it is to play against a drone (the drone in this case is played by a high quality synth). When the drone plays, it certainly imposes harmonic limitations. At the same time, with the drone to play against, there is a freedom that inhabits the concertina and it seems to practically play itself.

 I play differently when I’m playing against a drone. Try it for yourself. Here are seven minutes of high quality D drone.

Here is a tune of mine that springs right from the power of the drone. A long improvisation, then the tune proper. The working title is Step Hop. Any suggestions as to the real title?
