Squeezology is steeped in the contra dance tradition. Ever mindful of what dancers need, we love to playfully push the musical boundaries of our tradition, mixing in elements of Salsa, Johnny Cash, the Stones and Beetles, Klezmer and Steve Reich while never loosing sight of our old-time, New England, and British Isles roots.
We don’t have a CD... yet, but we are included in the acclaimed 3 CD set; Anglo International. Listen to a clip from one of our tracks.

HIGH-ENERGY
CONTRA DANCE MUSIC
combining the rhythmic drive of old-time
Southern tunes with French Canadian and New England fiddle
music.
Grand Picnic has played contra dances from Oregon to Boston and from Vermont to Florida, thrilling dancers with their original approach to traditional fiddle music. A sensation wherever they play, Grand Picnic's contagious energy gets people up and dancing.

Dressed Ship with its unique combination of musical personalities plays English Country and Playford Dances dances in the New York area. Dancer response has been very enthusiastic. They seem to enjoy our exploration of the genre, blending a simple and elegant presentation of the tunes with improvisational fireworks that, in the words of Gene Murrow can be “truly over the top”. Listen to an MP3 clip, The Convention.
